The National Youth Service Corps has established a Distress Call Centre for the security of corps members nationwide.
Ekiti State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Baba Ahmed, of the scheme disclosed this on Thursday during the swearing-in of the 2012 Batch ‘A’ corps members at Ise-Emure-Orun.
According to him, the centre was set up in collaboration with security agencies in the country, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
“Data on all corps members will be stored at the centre and a call from any corps member in distress, from any part of the country, will receive immediate attention of security men in such domain,” he explained.
Ahmed, however, advised the corps members to cultivate the habit of being security conscious at all times.

“You should be cautious of people and objects in your environment,” he added, and advised them to also pay attention to the security tips they would be taught in camp and to read their handbooks properly.
